Default Ideas Out Of Waste.

Make Luminaries out of tin cans.
First, remove the label and clean it well. Fill the can almost full with water, and freeze it.
draw a simple picture, or words on a paper the size of the can surface. Tape the paper onto the can. Use a hammer and nail to punch holes about 1/2" apart on the outline of the drawing/words.
Let the water melt and pour it out. Put some sand or dirt in the bottom of the can. Put in a tea light candle, light outside or inside at night.

I really feel nice to make things out of waste... Does anyone share similar interest?

This is really fascinating and at the same time creative, Well even I have some cool tips for the coming diwali..

THINGS REQUIRED

4 ice cream sticks, tinted paper, pencil, tracing paper, silver foil (you can use chocolate wrappers), glue, colours, sequins and beads, and scissors.

METHOD

1. Trace the outline of the six diyas on the tinted paper. Cut them out. Similary draw and cut out the flames from the silver foil.
2. Stick the flames on the diyas. Decorate the diyas with sequins and beads
3. Make the lamp stand by making a frame out of the icecream sticks. Paint the stand.
4. Stick the diyas, three on each side of the stand. Suspend the stand with a string by punching a hole in the frame.
5. Brighten up your home on Diwali, by hanging these shiny diyas on a doorway!

It is easy but looks real and nice from far..

I'd like to share a way of making Mats from useless clothes (flat cloth... like scarves or cut shirts / T -Shirts etc.. )

If you have old useless scarves, towels or plain cloth pieces (cut out of your dress or shirt etc) you can make mats depending on its size and matrial that can be used for various things like keeping on table for vases/ mugs, dressing tables or even bath mats or door mats.

Method:

Take the useless but clean cloth (scarves, towels, cut piece etc .)

Gather length wise (Straight in a line)Twist it real tight so it does not open from anywhere.

Apply glue / paste to one side of it neatly... Hold one end really tight and start rotating the remaining line around it (like @)with out leaving any space so that the glued portion sticks to the non-glued outers of the inner cloth... (you can make it round or oval)

Once all is done keep it under some heavy weight till it dries out and is all stuck together properly. Your Mat is ready. You can even decorate it with sparkle/ color glue by making flowers or smileys etc.

This can be done even with useless Natural Ropes.

Hi!!I see a nice topic going on in here.

Well I have some Party waste idea...These suggestions can really reduce the amount you have to throw away after a party:
  • Buy baking goods and snack food in bulk or large volumes.
  • Use reusable tableware; if you don't have enough, ask to borrow reusable tableware from friends or family.
  • Rent dishes, napkins, cups and saucers, tablecloths and glasses instead of using expensive disposables.
  • Cut up last year's holiday cards and use as place cards.
  • Use outdated calendars taped together to make a unique New Year's tablecloth.
  • Place easily identifiable recycling containers at your celebration so guests can recycle their pop cans, bottles, etc.
  • Encourage host or hostess to reuse and recycle bows, wrapping paper, cans, glass, etc.
  • Point out the ways your party demonstrates waste reduction and recycling, and SPREAD THE WORD.
Tell me how it works...........

Hey I see a nice informative piece of conversation going on.. But I mostly use my leftover foods... What I can call ideas out of waste..

Tinned soup can be made to go further by adding leftover vegetables, cooked rice, potatoes or pasta.

Make vegetable stock by adding the washed outside leaves and trimmings from vegetables to water with salt and pepper. Bring to the boil and simmer for 30 minutes.

Have you more such Ideas?
