Default Thiksey, Karsha and Spituk Gustor

Gustors take place at Thiksey, Spituk and Karsha in different months of the year. The festival takes place for two days. The celebration is to mark the victory over evils. The mask worn by the dancers represent the Guardians, Protectors and the Gods and Goddesses. The festival ends with the symbolic assassination of evils and burning of the effigy of evils.

Do you celebrate this festival?

Nice post Jasmine, We too celebrate this festival with lots of gaiety.

After the two day celebrations of the Thiksay Gustor, there is a ritualistic dispersal of the Torma or the sacrificial cake. This is done by the leader of the Black Hat dancers and marks the end of the Thiksay Gustor. By the virtue of this act, there is supposedly the destruction of all forms of evils. The assassination of the Tibetan apostate King Lang Darma by a Budhist monk in the mid 9th century is enacted during the festival of Thiksay Gustor.

I wish to know more from the IL's about what delicacies are prepared for this festival.

The Gustor festival begins with presenting a liquid offering to invite the gods to witness the sacred dances and provide protection from the evil spirits. T. On the second day, a sacrificial figure made from dough is ritualistically destroyed in a ceremony called Dao-Tulva (killing of the enemy). The pieces are then dispersed in the four cardinal directions symbolizing the banishment of enemies from the entire land.

I have only been in this festival when I was on a trip. The sweets offered to me were delicious but I cannot tell you the recipe....
