Default Christ Church in Shimla in India

himla is not only a place for mere honeymooners, for apart from providing an unparallel ambiance for celebrating romance, there are something else which focuses on the past of this beautiful hill station. During the British colonial period in India, this small town in Himachal Pradesh acted as the summer capital of the Raj for 75 years. That 75 years of reigning has left its marks in this city, which have become the popular tourist attractions now a days. Christ Church in Shimla in India is one of those attractions without visiting which your Sightseeing in Shimla would be an incomplete affair.Situated on the Mall, Christ Church in Shimla in India is well-known as the second oldest church in northern India. Not only the yellow church, but also the silhouette of this seen on the skyline for miles around is enough to leave you mesmerized.
Consecrated after 1857, this church was designed by Colonel JT Boileau in 1844. In the year 1860, Colonel Dumbleton donated the clock and the porch added in 1873. During those days, officials and other notables of the Raj residing at this town, used to come to this church to offer Sunday prayers. Though at that time, there was a lack of space over here, for which the colonial masters used to face problems, yet today the congregations have dwindled and there is no lack of space.
Experience the tranquility of the atmosphere. Sit calm and quiet on the wooden benches and feel the air of sanctity. Look at the lovely stained glass windows for which it is so famous.
Moreover, around the chancel window there used to be a beautiful fresco fashioned by Lockwood Kipling, the famous writer Rudyard Kipling's father. He was the principal of Mayo School of Art in Lahore. However, nothing of it remains today.
