Chandigarh Metro Rail - Coming soon!

Hello Chandigarhites,

Good news for you all. Chandigarh is proposed to get Metro rail facility in 4 years. According to the finance secretary of Chandigarh, the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) has been chalked out. The administration looks at Metro project as a social commitment to provide reasonable, good quality transport system and reducing vehicular movement on roads, environmental pollution and congestion on already saturated road infrastructure.

The proposed Chandigarh Metro will cover a distance of 52.4 km, out of which 40.4 kms will be in Chandigarh and rest 12 kms will be in Mohali. 15.8 kms on Madhya Marg (Khuda Lahora-Housing Board-Manimajra-IT Park), 10 kms on Himalaya Marg (Sector 1-Sector 17 - Sector 43-Sector 51) and 14.6 kms from Sector 26 – Industrial Area – Vikas Marg - Maloya – Dadumajra will be covered by the Metro System.

Thanks Sonia for posting this information and thanks to Satyasri for your good wishes. Wish you all the luck..may Chennai have Metro rail soon. It really makes life easy as I have seen in Delhi.

Delhiites can say better how Delhi Metro has made travelling easy and life easier for them. Can we hear from you gals?
