Default Swine Flu in Pune

Hi
Can someone let me know how worrisome is the swine flu pandemic in Pune now?I was planning to travel to Aurangabad next weekend but my ILs are worried we might get the flu during our 5hours bus journey. As far as I know it is said that we have to wear mask while travelling and it reduces the chance of it.I think the panic now is mainly caused due to the death of the girl than the severity of the disease.Since am staying in my company guest house I am not aware of the outside scenario. Can you please throw some light on thsi please?

Please go through the ppt ...it contains very good info on SWINE flu

hygiene is very very imp....it's all that we can do to reduce our chanches of getting affected...kepe everything clean around in your house...use disinfectants to clean the surfaces...wash hands whenever u come from out..make your family members also practice this policy

keep some disposable masks handy...cover yourself when you go out

make sure the bai who comes to clean the house washes her hands properly before she begins her job...if u're too scared...buy and give a mask to her to wear...

avoid visiting crowed places...take special care of kids and oldies in the house

Default Re: Swine Flu in Pune

the key is to be informed and keep a good hygiene around

but there is absolutely no need to panic...

my god people are scared due to all this media publicity...specially pune is in so much news...tamilnadu has cases where they are not letting people coming from pune stay in hotels etc...

it's a curable flu....

this should be lesson for all of us....eat good food.. drink lots of fluid....exercise regularly...keep fit....develop a good immunity...and keep urself and house clean..take care while going out .....and u should be safe

today's pune mirror has a chart to prepare for a good immune system...go through that for more info

plus there was another article yesterday about how you can make masks at home...it has to be a three layered mask...and can be constructed at home using cotton cloth....this can we washed in hot water and dettol ...and ironed properly before next day's use

Default Re: Swine Flu in Pune- Tulsi & Nilgiri

Dont know if this helps, but I guess no harm in trying either. This was forwarded to me so thought I should post it here......

Lucknow, May 27: Wonder herb Tulsi can not only keep the dreaded swine flu at bay but also help in fast recovery of an afflicted person, Ayurvedic practitioners claim.

"The anti-flu property of Tulsi has been discovered by medical experts across the world quite recently. Tulsi improves the body's overall defence mechanism including its ability to fight viral diseases. It was successfully used in combating Japanese Encephalitis and the same theory applies to swine flu," Dr U K Tiwari, a herbal medicine practitioner says.

Apart from acting as a preventive medicine in case of swine flu, Tulsi can help the patient recover faster.

"Even when a person has already contracted swine flu, Tulsi can help in speeding up the recovery process and also help in strengthening the immune system of the body," he claims.

Dr Bhupesh Patel, a lecturer at Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar is also of the view that Tulsi can play an important role in controlling swine flu.

"Tulsi can control swine flu and it should be taken in fresh form. Juice or paste of at least 20-25 medium sized leaves should be consumed twice a day on an empty stomach."

This increases the resistance of the body and, thereby, reduces the chances of inviting swine flu," believes Patel.

Use “Nilgiri Oil” drops on handkerchiefs and masks as one of the preventive

The info that is spreading about Nilgiri oil is not approved by niv(national insititute of virology).
NIV has not recommended any indigenous formulations like Nilgiri oil, etc as use against novel H1N1 (Swine Flu). Please refer to authentic public health information or call the help lines for queries.
