Moving to kothrud-Paud road area

Hi, I'm moving from Mumbai to Pune. Husband's office is on Kothud-Paud road. I'd like to get some advice on what area/suburb I should look into which wouldnt be too much of a commute to this area; in terms of schools, complexes with power back up, security , play area for kids? A suggestion I received was Baner road. Please help as I have no clue about pune city.
