Places of Tourist Attraction in Pune - Where to visit?

Pune is better known as an educational hub and one of the strongest contenders for companies looking out for IT investments. However, it is also carries a huge legacy of being one of the finest tourist attractions in western India. And its proximity to the financial capital Mumbai connected via the world-class Pune-Lonavala-Mumbai Expressway has also made it a tourist's delight.

Sinhagad Fort
Meaning ‘Lion Fort’ in Marathi is a fort located near the city of Pune. It is situated on a hill 800 meters above the surrounding countryside and the fort's location has been strategically important since 14th century and has been the site of many important battles. Also during World War II, this fort was temporarily used as a camp for German prisoners of war.

Aga Khan Palace
The architecture of the palace reminding you of the illustrations from fairy tale houses is built with Italianate arches and spacious lawns and was used as a prison by the Britishers where they interned Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi.

Shindyanchi Chhatri
Counted amongst the architectural prides of Pune, the temple adorned with Rajasthani architecture is the memorial to the great warrior Mahadji Shinde, the commander-in-chief of the Maratha army, between the years 1760 to 1780 under the mighty Peshwas.

The Osho International Commune
The Osho International Commune in Koregaon Park, founded by Osho Rajneesh has beautiful gardens and are open to the public in the mornings and evenings. The commune organizes meditation courses and attracts thousands of visitors from India and abroad.

The places I admire the most in Pune is the Shaniwar Wada located on the Shivaji rd .Then there is Saras Baug which is famous for its Sarasbaug Ganapati.Parvati Hill and temple, Raja Kelkar Museum , Pune University to name a few.

Pune has some excellent parks but have lost the charm nowadays ...Peshwe Park,Snake Park,Appu ghar.

For shopping there a n no. of Malls now in the city..But The joy of a walk through the streets of Camp,JM Rd,Laxmi rd is mesmerizing.

For College hangouts ...FC rd,JM rd,E-square,MG rd and Aundh are popular..
