| | Special chiki in Pune? - need advice!
Dear Friends,
Can you please tell me, the special chiki available exclusively in Pune & the name & address of the shop(s)?
My daughter is going there tomorrow enroute to Shirdi & wants to order it for her daughter's wedding.
I shall be thankful for your help.
Looking forward to an early reply.
Love,
Chithra.

Hi Chitu,
Actually the chikis are from Lonavala and the most famous ones is MAGANLAL CHIKKI.
She can go to any chikki shop around and ask for Maganlal's chikki.

Lonavala chikki are most famous.
Mals there is another chikkiwala in Lonavala...i think their name is national. their chikki are of even better quality than maganlal. Maganlal's quality has deteriorated over the years.
And the chocolate walnut fudge from coopers...hmmmm yummy.

Hi Roopa,
I would defer on that sweety.
I often go to Lonavala and pick up only Maganlal's Chikkis and their quality is standard.
In Lonavala itself there were many selling 'DUPLICATE' Maganlal Chikkis, I had to go to their main outlet to pick the varieties I want.
National Chikkis are not the one's which I would go for, my vote will go for Manganlal. We need to look for the original outlet.

| | Re: Special chiki in Pune? - need advice! Hi Mals,
You brought my memory alive with your strong support for Maganlal's Chikki. I think they are the best; of course, as you said you have to buy them from their 100 years old outlet near Lonavala Railway Station. And Lonavala is so close to Pune...its worth dropping there for the Chikki's and Fudges.
Now, I'd like to make all of you jealous.
I used to stay just next to the main Maganlal's outlet in Lonavala some 4 years back. And..enjoyed smelling fresh chikki being made every afternoon. I really miss those.
And have you tasted the Bhakarvadi's there...I think I've never tasted any better than theirs anywhere. The best of spices and flavor...their quality is second to none.
Happy Posting!

Hi Sonia,
I am in total envy of you living in Lonavala. I enjoy eating Maganlal's Chikkis and buy them in lots when I visit their Original Outlet and you are right, no one can beat them in making Chikkis.
I have also tried the Bakarwadis and fudges.
