Default Weekend Attractions in Pune

Hi all,

This weekend I visited Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum with my family.Since Diwali holidays are going on.My Relatives come to see Pune attractions.Their son Vishal is very fond of History. So I decided to show him Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum .
Theere he appreciated human craftsmanship in stone, wood, metal, ivory, fabric and clay. There is enough collection to know every aspect of historical culture of Pune.
Hope many of you also visited this famous museum.
Suggest me what ther things in Pune I can show them.

You can also show the Pataleshwar Caves which is there in the begining of Jungli Maharaj Road ShivajiNagar. Not many people are aware of, they are a small set of caves with some carvings and is a good spot. The only distraction you might face while taking your kids there is the number of love couples who sit on the lawns on the way to the Cave.
BTW the caves are an ASI protected monument and entry is free, you can visit on a weekend in the afternoon and follow it up with a visit to the Sambhaji Park which is crowded on weekends. Lot of bhelpuri stalls there and families visit with their kids there. Also lot of restaurants around in that area and maybe you guys can have your dinner too.

Singhad is good for trekking provided the person does not suffer from any breathing ailments and is not overweight, otherwise its wise to stick to the jeeps and go to the top

Ladies,
Has anyone gone to Matheran recently? I belive that is also a good weeekend option from Pune. One can take the train from Pune, go to Neral and from there go to Matheran by the Toy Train and enjoy the route.

Do post in your experiences regarding Matheran.

Not been to matheran recently...but its fun there, especially if you have a group.

No vehicles allowed there so its fun to walk around leisurely like the walking plaza on MG road here on weekends.
