Well we should avoid chanting mantra during menses. Its just because of simple reason that you should be clean(physically and mentally) while praying to almighty.

So just chillax during those 4-5 days.

yes you can do mansik jaap ,if you feel comfortable.

Parvathi swayamvara manthra could be chanted by both men and women. Only condition is it should be sincere and the purpose should be noble
