    Dear Friends,

Adi masam is an auspicious month for Amman. Is there any special puja or prayers or rituals during this month... ?? My mom used to advise me to put maa vilaku (made of flour) for Amman on tuesdays and fridays during Adi Masam.
Also asked me to prepare koozh (made of ragi flour and rice) and serve to Amman every tuesdays and fridays.

Other then this, is there anything else i can do during adi masam. I planned to read Mahisasura Mardhini everyday on adi masam too.

Actually i will be going for TTC treatment after adi masam. Hope everything goes smooth for me and Amma will bless me a baby soon...

Seeking for your kind advice and help.

    Hi Bambli,

As your mother advised, you can put mavilaku and read devi stotras. I have heard that reading 'Devi bhagavatham' or the shorter version of it called Devi padam (in story mode) will please Devi.

You can also chant "Santhanagopala manthram" given below

    "om kleem krishna kleem
    dhevakisudha govinda
    vaasudeva jagathpathe
    Dehime thanayam
    krishnathwaam aham sharanam gathaa
    deva deva jagannadha
    gothra vruthikara prabho
    dehime thanayam
    sheekram aayushmandham yasaswinam"

offer little butter and milk for nevedhyam and the mantra to be chanted 36 times daily and then prasad to be consumed.

Don't worry. God will definitely shower his blessings on you. Soon you will be sharing the goodnews with us here. All the best. :)

Mavilaku is the deepa that is made of rice flour and jaggery.

    1 cup rice (pacharisi)
    1 cup jaggery
    Elaichi power 1 tsp.

wash and soak rice for 10 minutes in water. Then drain completely and spread it in a clean cloth and let it dry. Powder this. In a bowl, put 1 cup flour, 3/4 cup jaggery and 1 tsp elaichi powder and mix well. (DO NOT ADD WATER). keep kneading the dough till becomes soft. If dough is not soft, add remaining jaggery too. divide it into two equal portions. Make a depression in the centre (deep enough to pour ghee) and then pour ghee in it. Put a cotton strand (thiri), put manjal kumkum pottu in the vilaku and light the lamp. Till you compelete the prayer, keep replenishing the ghee and after the prayers, you can consume the prasadh and then distribute the rest (mavilaku) along with coconut as prasadh to your relatives and neighbours.

Mavilaku is offered to devi in adi masam Fridays.

All the best siri. May god shower his blessing on you. All the best.
