Miscellaneous Pujas

Hi ILs:

I am wondering if all of you could contribute here on upcoming vratas here. It will be easier for new ILs who needs to know the vratas in advance so that they can start preparing for that in advance.

The next festival, I know of, is Krishna Janmaashtami which falls on September 3 and 4, 2007. If any IL can contribute on the significance of Krishna Janmaashtami that will be helpful

Next Festival in September is Ganesha Chathurthi, which is Sep 16th.

Dear ILs:
Sept 4th is ashtamirohini and that has to be celebrated on sept 3, 07 night when it is ashtami and rohini. is that the same in america too?

is there any specific pooja to be done during that time? how do we celebrate other than praying to Lord Krishna. Is fasting required? why fasting is important on this day?

If it is not too much of a trouble could you please post the link for me? I could not find the KRISHNA JAYANTHI POOJA SLOGAM in the thread given here. Will you be able to provide details of the pooja format for ashatmirohini too?

I now see that I have not posted any Krishna shlokams. I will post by sunday.
Puja format needs a lot of time to write down. So, follow the general puja format & chant the shlokas. If I find K shlokas in other sites, I will send you a P M.

Received PMs. Thank you very much for providing the links. I printed three of them and will be chanting them on Monday evening. From IL forum I received many slogas and I am slowly started to extend my prayer time. I will try to make 'palpayasam' on monday for my krishna. Hope I can make it well. I made palpayasam with vermicelli before. This time I will try to make that with rice which is favorite for krishna.
Thank you very much chitramadam for being always there with your "akshayapatra' of slogas and pooja formats.
