With gratitude to Baba and the Sai family here for enabling me to do this, here I go, with my questions for this week:

PARAYAN 2, WEEK 04, UNDERSTANDING SAISATCHARITRA

1. What did Baba do when he suffered from a severe attack of Asthma? What does the incident indicate?

2. Who was the devotee who accepted Sannyas by Baba’s blessing? What was Baba’s reply to his doubts and restlessness?

3. What were the Baba’s Nectar-like words, as mentioned in this chapter?

4. Anyone willing to share their own personal experience or feelings or learnings from this chapter can do so.

Sorry for the delayed response. Here are my answers.


1)What is the mission of the Saints as given in the Saisatcharithra?
God dwells in the Saints and they are not different from Him. Mission of the Saints is to love and treat all living beings equally.
Our BABA is one such saints who lived for the sake of devotees, was always ready to serve the devotees 24/7. Only if our turn comes, we'll be able to get HIS darshan, hear his LEELAs.


2)Who was the devotee who was asked to leave Shirdi by Baba the very next day after his darshan?


It was Kaka Mahajani. Kaka wanted to stay for a week with BABA and enjoy Gokul Ashtami, however BABA's orders are different.
Kaka Mahajani was happy to obey BABA's order to leave the next day and also understood the Omnipresence of BABA when he went to his office the next day.


3)A Brahmin from Nasik experiences supreme bliss in Shirdi.Who was he and what was his experience in Shirdi?
It was Moolay Sastri. He was an orthodox brahmin from Nasik who was well versed in astrology and palmistry. While he was at Wada, he was performing his regular routine and others went for Madhyan Arthi.
When Arti commenced, BABA asked to get some dakshina from Moolay Sastri. Booty went to get Dakshina and Sastri was little hesistated to give money, however he had no other choices.
He came along with Booty to the Masjid and stood outside and threw flowers at BABA. Then all of a sudden, he saw his late Guru Gholap in SAI's seat and experienced the divine bliss. He took his Guru's blessings and when he stood up, he saw SAI. He was extremely happy and again saluated BABA and happily gave the dakshina.

Congrats on being nominated for this week. This is a lovely chapter and here are my answers.


1. What did Baba do when he suffered from a severe attack of Asthma? What does the incident indicate?
When BABA suffered from severe attack of Asthma, he decided to go into Samadhi. He told Bhagat Mhalaspati to Protect his body for 3 days and in case if BABA doesn't return back, BABA also showed the place to bury his body. Saying this, BABA's breath stopped. Mhalaspati had BABA's body on his lap and sat 3 full days safeguarding him. After three full days, BABA came back ALIVE. My God.. What a miracle!!


SAI lives ever. His passing away is only an outward aspect but in reality he pervades everywhere and will effect the welfare of the devotees even now as he was doing before. This is getting experienced each and every day by many devotees who surrender themselves to BABA.


2. Who was the devotee who accepted Sannyas by Baba’s blessing? What was Baba’s reply to his doubts and restlessness?
It was Sakharam Hari alias Bapusaheb Jog.
After his retirement, he and his wife came and lived in Shirdi and spent entire time in serving BABA.
Even after serving for a long time, his mind wasn't calm and composed. so he asked BABA on when HE would bless him. BABA replied that in due time, Jog's bad actions will be destroyed, his merits and demerits will be reduced to ashes and BABA shall conisder Jog blesses, when Jog surrender all his attachments and accept Sanyas.
After sometime, BABA's words came true. Jog accepted Sanyas after his wife's death and realized the goal of life.




3. What were the Baba’s Nectar-like words, as mentioned in this chapter?
BABA always uttered the following sweet words.
1. He who loves ME the most, always sees ME.
2. The whole world is isolated to him without ME.
3. He tells no stories but MINE.
4. He ceaselessly mediates upon me and always chant my name.
For the one who surrenders completely to ME and ever remembers me, I give him Salvation.
5. I'm dependent on Him on who thinks and hungers after ME and who does not eat anything without offering ME.
6. He who thus comes to ME become one with ME.
7. So leaving your pride and ego, you should surrender yourself to ME.

When I read the lines, "Though BABA has no body now, he lives everywhere" I remembered the incident that happened to me in June 2012.
I was travelling to US all alone with my 2 months old kid as DH couldn't get vacation. My Parents and In-Laws came to airport. I had the baby in my hand, my laptop bag, diaper bag and a stroller. All of us prayed BABA for my safety trip.
From the day, we booked the tickets, I was little tensed on how am I going inside the flight all alone.

We met a family at the airport and there was a 40-45 aged amma who was travelling alone to US (a different location than mine) and her family asked me to assist her. Till Frankfurt, we both were going in the same flight. We were glad that I got some company.


We also came to know that amma's son-in law have a friend who works at that airport. I went inside and then met their friend. I got introduced and their friend took all my things (my stroller, laptop bag, diaper bag) and he took us to the immigration and bypassed the queue and he came with us till the gate. He also told the ppl at the gate counter to take my bags inside the flight. I don't know this person and as a courtesy, he could've one of my bags. But he was very responsible.

Everything happened at ease and I safely seated in the flight. I know that it was BABA only who came to Airport and helped me. After getting inside the flight, I couldn't meet that amma as my seat was at front and hers was at the end.


Even now, my family used to remember these incidents. Thanks Thanks and Thanks to BABA for showing his presence to all his devotees. I reached US safely and I read Sai Satcharithra (Saptah Parayan) to thank BABA for being with me throughout the travel.

Baba decided to go into samadhi for 72 hours and take his prana high to cure asthma.Baba instructed Bhagat Mhalasapti to take care of his body for 3 days.
If he returns well and good else to bury him with two flags.For complete 3 days the loving devotee Mhalasapti took care of Baba's body by holding him in his lap.
How blessed and fortunate ...As per Bhagat Mhalasapti firm determination and belief Baba did return and gained his conscious.
Baba wants us human beings to realize that physical form will be lost one day but our innner soul is the one that is non-perishable .We should constantly focus on this inner self and try to be a good human being.Always meditate on Baba and worship him with complete devotion and faith.Always remember our dear Sai is everywhere and is always protecting us and helping us in every little aspect of our life.


2. Who was the devotee who accepted Sannyas by Baba’s blessing? What was Baba’s reply to his doubts and restlessness?
Bapusaheb Jog, was the one who accepted sannyas by Baba's grace.When Jog asked Baba when will he get inner peace? when will Baba bless him?
Baba replied that soon the demerits earned by his bad actions/karma will be destroyed.Also his merits and demerits will be equalized.HE should free himself from
worldly attachments and resort to worshiping God and take the sannyas route. Baba did bless him and due course of time after his wife passed away he turned to
sannyas and attained his life goal.


3. What were the Baba’s Nectar-like words, as mentioned in this chapter?
He who loves me, always mentions my stories, mediates upon me, worships me,never eats without offering me, I feel indebted to him .
He who surrenders himself completely to me ,becomes one with Me. I shall help those devotees attain self realization .
Urges us to leave ego,pride and materialistic attitude and surrender ourself to him.Let Sai resides in our Heart always and rule us.

I think personally we should try to keep ourself away from any bad actions.If any wrong thought crosses our mind think about Baba and let it pass.Always do good and try to keep any/all negativity away. my answers for the questions-


1. What did Baba do when he suffered from a severe attack of Asthma?


To get rid of the severe attack of asthma Baba decided to take His prana high up and go into samadhi.He said to Bhagat Mhalasapti - keep watch of my body for three days if i dont return bury my body.After three days , Baba showed signs of life at 3 A.M and Baba returned to consciousness (life) again.


What does the incident indicate?


This incident indicates that for fulfilling His mission He assumed the body and after it was fulfilled, He threw away the body (the finite aspect), and assumed His infinite
aspect. Sai ever lives, His Passing away is only an outward aspect, but really He pervades all animate and inanimate


2. Who was the devotee who accepted Sannyas by Baba’s blessing?


Sakharam Hari alias Bapusaheb Jog was the devotee who accepted Sanyas by baba's grace.


What was Baba’s reply to his doubts and restlessness?


baba told to Jog that you will be blessed when you will renounce all attachments, conquer lust and palate,and get rid of all impediments, serve God whole-heartedly and resort to the begging bowl (accept sannyas).


3. What were the Baba’s Nectar-like words, as mentioned in this chapter?


These are baba's nectar like words-


1.Who loves Me most, always sees Me.
2.The whole world is desolate to him without Me,
3.He tells no stories but Mine.
4.He ceaselessly meditates upon Me and always chants My name.
5.I feel indebted to him who surrenders himself completely to Me and ever
remembers Me.
6.I shall repay his debt by giving him salvation (selfrealization).
7.I am dependent on him who thinks and hungers after Me
and who does not eat anything without first offering it to Me.
8.He who thus comes to Me, becomes one with Me, just as a river gets to the sea
and becomes merged (one) with it.
9.So leaving out pride and egoism and with no trace of them, you should surrender yourself to Me Who isseated in your heart.

Beautiful reply. Your personal experience of how Baba escorted you and your kid during your journey and helped your reach the US safely is very touching.

Enjoyed reading your answers and you just hit the point right. We need to avoid the bad, so that our karma gets balanced. Our Sai is always there to help us in this process and as you rightly said, even when some bad thought comes to our mind, just think of Sai and let it pass.

Eventually, over time, such thoughts will stop coming.
