thank you Shanvy for your lovely feedback and appreciation. The mugam at the bottom is my MIL's - 45 years old and the above is mine - 20 yo. I have been doing along with mil all these years except for 2 years when I was in abroad. Sometimes 1 or 2 of my co-sisters will be here, so we used to keep all of ours in the same kalasam either in my mil's house or mine. Usually the decoration will be my part.

My G-MIL had the tradition of having a whole wall painted every year (with lime ) and then they used to draw the varalakshmi image on that wall some 60/70 years and then they did not have camera to have a copy. traditions that trickle down to us and to carry forward is a blessing.

oh! That is awesome. Right it is a blessing to carry forward. My mother doesn't have this, but as my mil has I am able to follow.

You get kid size silk sarees itseems these days. you can get one done for your ambal. likewise i am planning to get pattu pavadai for mine next year if she wishes. don't you put a mirror at the back. then you don't need to bring her jadai to the front. and you also get wonderful jadai with pearl and other decoration for ambal, just like your head set.

Yes Shanvy. It is available. This is the first time I tried drapping saree. So long I was just using either stitched paavadai or a new blouse bit folded with ruffles, tie around kalasam. This time the inspiration is the gift I received from my parents a silver kudam, which they had been planning for long time to buy for me. As I wanted to use that for pooja I kept kalasam on top of it and I got this idea of drapping saree as seen on youtube. So just last week I bought hands and falls hair. Next time I will properly plan it and do the jadai alankaram as suggested. For saree instead of getting one using same every year, I wish to drape different each year. If ambal wishes ley she make it happen

My ambal is alangarpriyai, and since we don't have golu, it is during these days we find ways to decorate her..
For me too there is no tradition of keeping ambal on kalasam during golu as my mil don't have. So I just keep golu. My mother has. So I avail this opportunity to decorate her as if to my daughter.
