Default Your query answered, Vidya !

Thathparyam means inner meaning. By enemy, we always think of external shathrus, only ! The internal enemies have to be conquered for our self-improvement & for others to interact happily with us !
Usually for Punyahavachanam, the veda mantras " Pavamana suktham" is chanted. Unless we learn it properly from a good teacher, we cannot do it, is my opinion !
Love & regards,
Chithra.

Default Dear Mrs Chithra,

Thank you for giving me the meaning of 'tatparyam'.

I am sorry that I did not convey what I wished in 'punyaha vachanam'.

What I wish to do is to consecrate a chombu of water into holy water to sprinkle around the house, clothes, groceries etc. In TVM, we can either get a priest to consecrate the water at home or get it from a temple.

Right now, I do it the Feng Shui way by putting orange peels in corners. Since we have a tested traditional way, I wanted to know that as well. Just to get purity and eliminate some foul energy.

thanking you
warm regards
Vidya

Default My two cents, for Punyahavachanam !

Dear Vidya,
I learnt Feng Shui as well, but have not heard of orange peels - it is new to me. What I learnt was to keep rock salt in tiny containers in the corners of the rooms & empty them periodically. I don't do it since I am worried, somebody may trip over it & the collected negative energy will spill over !
Now a suggestion. Next time when you come to India, take some small ' Gangai Sombus" back. You can pour a little from that into a jug of water & chant
Gangae cha yamunae cha iva godaavari sarasvathi
Narmadae sinduu kavaeri jale(a)smin sannidim kuru
Covering the mouth with your palm. Now this water is purified & you can sprinkle it all over the house. Right now, if you don't have Ganga jalam also, , you can do it " manaseekam" which is equally effective.
Love & regards,
Chithra.

Default To chant when somebody has a high fever.

There is a deity called Jvara Devar, another form of Shiva. This is found in many temples including our Madurai Meenakshi Temple. The following verses may be
chanted to bring down high temperature:

Bhasmaayudhaaya vidmahae rakthanaethraaya dheemahi
Thanno jvarah prachodayaath
Jvara raajaaya vidmahae thris(h)iraskaaya dheemahi
Thanno jvarah prachodayaath
Jvaalaamaalaaya vidmahae vajradamshtraaya dheemahi
Thanno jvarah prachodayaath
Thanno jvarah prachodayaath

Love & regards,
Chithra.

Default Yes, sudha..

I also heard my mom telling that the mantram should be chanted by males or boys after the thread ceremony when they do sandhyavandhanam & of course, on avani avittam and the next day too(gayathri japam).

And, here, my friends who use to do sai bajans every thursday, they chant this manthiram regularly before starting!!! Definitely, Mrs.C can throw some light on this.

Default You can infer !

Dear Sudha,
I once asked my Guru, if ladies can chant gayathri Mantra. He gave me the following mantra & said " you can chant this'. you can draw your own inference!

Smartha Gayathri from Adithya Purana:

Yo daevassavithaa(a)smaakam dhiyodharmaadi gocharaah
Praerayaeth thasya yadbhargah tadvaraenyamupaasmahae

We resort to that pre-eminent and divine lustre of Brahman which manifests in the Sun-God which impels our intellectual faculties to move in conformity with the codes of conduct.

I took the following from another Gayathri manthra book.
Srirangarajasthava;

thejah param thathsavithur varaenyam dhaamnaa paraenaa pranakaath suvarnam
tvaam pundareekekshanamaamananathi s(h)reerangaraajam samupaasisheeya

I approach Lord Sri Rangaraja with the firm conviction that He is the same as the Lotus-eyed ( pundarikaksha0, who, staying in His celestial abode dispenses his effulgence through the pre eminent sun.

Sri Vedanta Desika:

Prathipurushamanaekaah prathyavastham vichithraah
ss(h)ubha gathishu dhiyohnah chodayanthyajjasaa nah
Akhilachidaachidantharyaami tadvishnusamjnam
savithurahamupaasaethasya devasya bhargah

I adore the Radiance of the Sun-God which is dispensed by the Lord known as Vishnu the creator as who, pervading & controlling the hearts of all, impels forcefully each individual on the auspicious path but in different ways.

Love & regards,
Chithra.

Default Dear Mrs Chithra,

Thank you for starting this Soundarya Lahari series. Apprecaite the way u put the slokam number for ready reference.

It is great to get the authentice phalams from MahaPeriyavaal. The market is full of books with each book giving different sloakms for diffrent phalams. This version from you clears all doubts.

One more favour- can you give the prescibed naivedyam per slokam also (if any).

thanking you
love & regards
Vidya
