Smile Re: Lord Subrahmanya Shlokams ( Sanskrit in English & tamil fonts) &Murugan 108 potri

Dear Chithra Madam,

In Murugan temples , during karpoora aarthi time, they sing a tamil song -- just a few verses it will be, for the duration of the aarthi . It is not any shloka or manthra, but very moving , tamil words will be there . But trying hard, still I cannot recollect a single word of it :icon_frown: -- is there any aarthi paatu for Murugan which you know ? Or any other song praising Murugan, can you please post ?

With thanks,
Dewdrop.

Exclamation Lakshmi Ashtothram - English !

Dear Chithra Madam,

Please DO NOT POST Lakshmi Asht . in English , as it is already available on the net ; both the astothara namavali as well as the ashtothara stothram are available as follows:

http://sanskritdocuments.org/doc_dev...mi108naama.itx

http://sanskritdocuments.org/doc_devii/lakshmi108.itx

I'm also sending you a pm, so that you needn't waste your precious time and energy -- as it is you are already keeping us foremost in your thoughts , 24/ 7 is it not ??

With best regards,
Dew.

Dear DewDrop,

Is it the paragraph "Deepa Mangala Jothi Namo Nama" from "Naada Vindu Kalaathi Namonama"? It is supposed to be the Aarthi song from Thiruppugazh that is usually sung during the Deepaaraadhani in our homes during Subrahmanya Swami Pujai/Samaarardhanai.

Let me know if it is the same or some other song.

Dear ChitVish, please don't mind me poking my nose .

Regards
Vidya

Dear Vidya,
Go ahead & take liberty - this is everybody's thread !
You have a lovely nose - please poke it by all means !!
I think, what you have mentioned is likely to be the song Panithuli is asking for !
Love,
Chithra.

Dear Chithra

Many thanks for the slokas, potris and wonderful pictures of our Arupadai veedu Murugan. And many thanks to kb2000 for the pdf files.

Yes we adore and worship our Tamizh Kadavul and Azhagu Deivam. He's our family and favourite deity too( our kid's name is Guhan ). I have heard that Sri Subramanya Bhujangam by Sri Adi Shankara is a very powerful sloka. I am trying to learn that now. I found the slokas in kamakoti.org. Please let me know if and when you come across a good musical rendering of the same. Though far from home, I shall keep a note of it and buy it when I am able to.

There is a beautiful commentry on Dikshitar's 'Shri Subrahmanyaya Namasthe' by Paramacharya at - Commentary on Sri Subrahmanyaya Namaste

Dear Gayathri,

Here is the link where you can download Adi Shankara's "Subramanya Bhujangam".

Slokams - sacred verses used in worship of Lord Muruga.

It is in the form of MP3, let me know if you can't find it. I have the download and can email it to you. There is a tonne of Thiruppugazh MP3 and their meanings in Tamil and English in the same link.

Thanks much for the link to Paramacharya's commentary on "Sri Subrahmanyaaya Namasthe Namasthe". I especially enjoyed the line where He explains the reason behind twice repeated words.

Regards
Vidya
