    Re: Dhrishti Removal

    Hi gvi,
Even though your question is to Mrs Chithra, I believe in these
dhrishti. If some friend gives too much compliment, the next day
my daughter used to get fever or cold. On sunday evenings we
use red chillies and salt to make 3 rounds to remove dhrishti.
We throw those chillies in trash.

    Hi Vidyalakshmi

Thanks for replying. Do you also throw salt in trash. Sorry for the silly question.
Also do you make rounds clockwise or anti or both?

I noted the Vazhga valamudan signature in your post. My mother ends her phone conversation with that quote to me. Are you a follower of that Guru. Sorry forgot his name. Now I also say that to my mother and to my baby :)

    thanks again

    Re: Dhrishti Removal

    Geetha,

I used to remove Dhrishti of my baby by holding a fistfull of salt in hands & move it clockwise over the child from head to toe .. 7 times & then let it drain in the sink/ washbasin.
Don't watch the salt while it is being washed out from your fist/palms. While moving the fist over the child's body we say a native verse which means "the drishti from the neighbours, friends, or any relatives which has struck the child .. let it get washed away like the salt by water" how ever this is actually in our language so if you want to follow this you can even chant "Jai mati Di" or some similar shlok.
After it washes out completely, sprinkle the water clinging on your palms 7 times over the child.

    Dear Geetha,
    Please go to
    To ward off evil
The latter is ideal. I will be shifting this thread to special shlokas, tomorrow.

    Re: Dhrishti Removal

    Hi gvi,
I make 3 rounds clockwise first, then 3 rounds anti clockwise.
Toss both the chillies and salt in the trash.
