Angam harae puLaka bhooshaNam aas(h)rayanthi
Bhrungaanganaeva mukuLaabharaNam thamaalam
Angeekruthaakhila vibhoothi: apaangaleelaa
Maangalyadaasthu mama mangaLa daevathaayaa:

This first verse gives an indication that our prayers for prosperity must be directed towards Mahalakshmi.
Golden colour bees swarm around the Tamala flowers in a tree. This looks very similar to the dark blue chest of Sri MahaVishnu when he is thrilled with happiness that Mahalakshmi, the personification of prosperity resides there. His pleasure is unparalleled.
Mahalakshmi, you have set your golden eyes on Vishnu – I ask for not more than a sideward glance from you, to be blessed with abundance in all spheres in life.

Love,
Chithra.

Dear Sri,
In my younger days, I was so curious to know the meaning of what I was chanting. If somebody could explain, I used to be just fascinated.
So, my intention to share the meaning with you.
Listen to the rendering of Ponmaai by Bombay Sisters - I just adore it.
Thankyou, Bhargavi.
Love,
Chithra.

Here, the eyes of Mahavishnu are compared to the blue flowers. Mahalakshmi’s eyes hover around the face of her consort, like bees buzzing around flowers, so restlessly (drinking the nectar of beauty). She
feels shy but cannot control her desire to look at Him. She is tempted to look at him, but shyness prevents her from looking at him continuously and hence shifts her glance.
If only those eyes give me a glance for even one moment, I will be blessed with prosperity.

Love,
Chithra.

Dear Pavithra,
Thanks for your nice words.
The interaction with you, youngsters, has injected, inspiration and passion to share all my collections – be it recipes or shlokas-with you in I L.
I am at peace with myself and my spiritual awareness is more pronounced. I suddenly find there is so much in the meaning of life. I enjoy every activity, I voluntarily take up, putting my heart and soul into it to complete it successfully. I know, I do not want to delay and cannot afford to postpone whatever I want to accomplish.
I would love to share my wealth of experience with the younger generation, ofcourse, so long as there are takers !

A large tumbler of Kumbakonam Degree Coffee at 6 A M, not Boost, is the secret of my energy !
Love,
Chithra.

Kanakadhara is one of my favorite stotram.
You have also added the Ponmazhai to it. Brilliant job as usual.

Thanks a lot, Mrs.c

You have made a mention of Ponmazhai by bombay sisters. Is it available in Giri trading or where can one look for it.
