    Hi,

Im 6 months pregnant. During my last visit to the doc, she told that I have put on 2.5kgs in a month, its is too much during this month :spin. So she suggested me to cut down on rice and have chapathis instead. Now I have started having chapathis everyday for bf (2 chapathis) and lunch (one) both. I having very less rice everyday now. Want to know whether having chapathi everyday during pregnancy is good for the baby and the mom-to-be? Suggestions pls.... :bowdown

    hi mom-to-be,

congrats.... total wt gain in the pregnancy cud be 9-13 kg......per month u can gain a max of 2, otherwise not much problem but losing weight post pregnancy wud be tough!
It shud be a balanced diet. Include lots of sprouts, fresh veggies, fruits, few badams and walnuts, dates and 3 glasses of milk. And have them in small frequent meals. avoid the three time a day schedule. That wud force u to consume more. Lots of walking is a must. Only chapathis will do no harm if u r enjoying it:)
Hope this helps u a bit.
    Happy pregnancy:thumbsup

P.S. I am a mom of 10 month old, so pregnancy tips stay afresh:)

    Take care

    Hi Nagarathna,

    Congrats on ur pregnancy :thumbsup

u can have Chapathi twice a day but wheat would cause heat in your body so while preparing dough add buttermilk instead of water. This would not cause heat in your body...

    All da best!!

    Cheers!!

I eat chapathis on most of the days with ragi the other time. I eat rice
1-2 times a week.. I am in my last trimester..:)

Make sure you eat the chapathi with very good amount of veggies or meat ( if you are a non-vegeterian ) Also, eat a fruit almost one hour before your actual meal.. it works for me. :)

    Hey all,

THanks for your suggessions. Will try to follow that, but due to my work life, im unable to break my meals in portions and unable to do much of walking since im at office by 7.30am & reach home by 6... still i manage to do 30min walk a day, not a continuous one but after my lunch & dinner.. will that be sufficient? Also I get tired very soon if I stand for even 10min.. why is that so? Does that happen to all preg. women?

As someone said wheat induces heat slightly, so apply little ghee instead of oil..this compensates the heat and ghee is necessary during this time.Ofcourse limit the quantity :).Dont worry. eat well and take rest.

Include more veggies and fruits and have a balanced meal

    have a safe pregnancy:thumbsup
