TIFFA Scan at 23 weeks...

Dear Friends,
My TIFFA scan is scheduled at 23 weeks( I am now 19 weeks through).I remember getting the scan done for my first one and the radiologist being a friend had revealed the baby's gender.But now I have to sign a form where I am not supposed to ask the gender.We are actually fine with anything.Is it criminal offence to ask the radiologist?Please let me know.

In India it is considered offense.

In earlier days, elders, men & even women tend to expect baby boy! Boy baby is said to be an asset to the family, they will hold the family name, like this there are many more things going on.... Because of the expectation on male child, people tend to do scan in the early stage & find the gender. If its a female, many decides to go for abortion. Many pregnant women has been forced to undergo abortion in many families. To avoid these, government has put a stop to announce baby gender during scan! This is what i know!
