Need advice of few first trimester dos and donts

Hi All,

I am posting my question again. Looks like subject of old one was confusing '10 weeks pregnant after miscarriage'.

I am 10 weeks pregnant now and need some advise.

1. My DH always had poor sperm morphology. As part of prenatal testing my doc tor has given option for screening & diagnostic tests. What should we go for & how much they are reliable\accurate ?
2. My gums are really not good. Can I get any dental cleaning done during pregnancy ?
3. When is the safe time for road and air travel. I go for a volunteer work but feel the road is really bumpy
4. We have kaiser right now bt have a option to switch to Blue Shield PPO. Which one should be better for pregnancy ?
5. Are frequent ultrasound safe for baby including Nuchal Translcency ultrasound ?
6. I have been really depressed over last few yrs because of marital issues. Anything I can do to address this ?
7. I have thyroid issues last 3 yrs. With meds TSH is ok now like 2.6. Can I rely on this or I should get T3 & T4 also checked ?
8. Any vastu related suggestions for healthy pregnancy & child ?. Is mirror on the closet ok in bedroom ?

Hi CrayoNess

The big cupboard closet has only mirror, instead of wood. It is in master bedroom

So? How is this related to the pregnancy? Sounds like a home decoration question.

Some people belive in Vastu shaststra (you will see many followers in India atleast)where there is apposition/place defined for everything including furniture's based on direction of place and use of place (similar to Fengsui). I don't know much about Vastushastra but there are some reason for each direction in vastushastra.

OPs question is for vastushastra.

I would say nothing is 100% accurate but will suggest you to go with Drs advise. Screening might not be 100% accurate but atleast help.

I went for dental cleaning in 8th or 9th week and informed Dr about pregnancy (they will give you form to fill everything). Dr did proper cleaning except x-ray . Please let you Dentist know about pregnancy.

3. When is the safe time for road and air travel. I go for a volunteer work but feel the road is really bumpy
I travelled by road for more than 3 hrs in one shot (went for a 3 days trip) in my 11th week. Still travelling 3 hrs /day by train and bus to go office. Earlier it was 5 days a week now I go 3 days/week to office. But as I mentioned you earlier, let yo Dr know about your routine and follow Dr suggestion. For Air Travel, per my Dr, you should travel until 28 weeks only however airlines allow until 36 weeks.

No Idea as I have Aetna PPO.
5. Are frequent ultrasound safe for baby including Nuchal Translcency ultrasound ?
There is still long debate going on. In my first pregnancy I hd gone aatleast 5-6 US nd in my seconf I had only 2 (3rd will be in 36 weeks). My first kid is healthy like any other kid . Again I would sy go with your DR.

This is biggest enemy of your baby. Try to be cheerful. I ws in stress for sometime because of office and long commute, started listening bhajans.

Did you inform your Dr. Based on your thyroid level he will prescriobe you medicine or refer you to Endocrinollogist. I too have Thyroid for last 7 years and in medication.
