    Hi Ladies,

Today I had my fetal echo tests and during the test dr mentioned that baby is lying low so he was unable to take few tests and asked me to drink water to make a full bladder to push baby up. Baby moved a little upper but still dr mentioned as low. Is baby lying low at 20 weeks normal? I feel only when baby grows it will move up and during 37weeks baby will move down.

    Please let me know.

Its very much normal. I also had the same problem
all u hav to do is to be xtra careful.Dnt strain urself and no climbing stairs very often
dont bend down and do any tough work
also one more thing which my doc adviced me was STRICT NO NO TO intercourse
as baby will be close to the vaigina and its very dangerous

as the baby weight increases baby will move up
dont worry all will be fine

    Thanks Sapthu...
My OB/GYN has not told anything about it.. Twice my cervix length was checked and it was normal. But yesterday fetal cardiology dr told baby is lying low which made me to think .. Coming friday, I have an appointment will check with dr ... As baby grows, it will move up isn't it?

Am really wondering because dr has not given me any instructions .. Uhmm may be its normal for babies to lie low initially then move up.. Will double check with dr :)

    thanks all

    Hi anithapartha and others ,

    is it grade1or grade2?

Even i am confused ,My ultrasound report at 16 and18 weeks says grade 1 placenta and no placenta previa .the specialist and Obgyn didnot even mention this . I read it myself in the reports . Does someone know if it is normal at 16and 18 weeks ??

    Hi Anithapartha,

Making the bladder full is to push the uterus up so that it can be visualized properly. ofcourse baby will be pushed up along with the uterus. May be your bladder was not full enough at that time. Don't worry.

Anisha32 - Grade 1 denotes the maturity of the placenta and it is normal to be Grade 1 at 16 - 18 weeks. It does not mean placenta previa. If it is placenta previa it will be mentioned.

    Anisha,

my report shows posterior placenta ., don't have placenta prévia ..,
just dr mentioned he couldn't take few pictures of fetal heart because baby was lying Low and that is when I got this doubt whether it's normal or baby lying down is an issue .., to work, I may need to almost climb stairs everyday , lot of walking sometimes chasing trains too :)

    Hi Anitha,

I am in my 17th week now, with second pregnancy. I faced exactly the same problem during my previous scan. My bladder was almost full, but, the doctor asked me to go drink some more liquid before he can take a scan again. He could not capture some of the measurements since the baby is low-lying is what he said. And, my scan report says low lying/ posterior placenta, with the end reaching to the cervix.
I was scared at first, but, the doctor assured me that nothing was wrong; only that i should not strain myself too much. So, dont worry!

    Hi!
Why was fetal echo done? Its not done routinely for all anomaly scans-though heart is assessed in the anomaly scan itself.Baby lying low is common, after 30-33 weeks scan will tell if it is still low lying-many reasons-gravity-forces baby into dependent posture, placenta can be in upper half so baby is down.Relax.Not to worry.Dont exert/pull/lift things.all the best.

    Hi radio doc,
fetal echo is done only when they suspect something in the anomoly scan.like in my case they found an echogenic focii in the heart of the baby during anamoly scan. It is to have a closer look at the heart to rule out any clinical findings..
