    Hi Ladies,
Dr just confirmed my pregnancy with positive blood tests. I've a nanny to help me with cooking. She is Gujarati. I don't want to share the good news with her until I go for my 1st U/S. But, what am wondering is the way she cooks !

She often cooks Rajma, Dhal Makani, Bhindi masala and uses ghee, peanut powder, amchur powder, jaggery in her cooking.

Please let me know if I can consume all the above said items or should I instruct her not to use anything in particular for cooking while am pregnant.

    Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!![IMG]

nothing to worry dear you can eat all those things as long as you dont feel aversion for those foods.
Drink lots of water, munch on dry fruits and avoid papaya, mangoes and lifting heavy weights.

You can eat anything and everything in moderation at anytime of your pregnancy. Even papaya and pine apple.
All what you need to be aware is your body's normal reaction for foods. If you have any allergies, digestive problems, or anything of that sort then you must avoid such foods during pregnancy. Because this is the time when your body starts to react against these things than normal times.

Also the food aversion at the first trimester is yet another thing to consider.

@anitha Not sure about the fairness aspect. At least it will help you in avoiding cough/cold.

    hey dear ..congratulations..

be careful with turmeric milk..it increases heat in the body..just check with any one else before taking it. actually they say u should not eat heat inducing foods during initial stages of pregnancy..so please check before taking it

Baby's skin color is not dependent on food intake during pregnancy.

True. I'll check with my dr during my next visit. Thanks for letting me know. As I took turmeric milk yesterday morning in empty stomach and stopped it today.
