    Dear Friends,

Are you having any idea of using Dhanwanthra Thailam during pregnancy?

I had read in a book written by an Ayurvedic Doctor that Dhanwanthra thailam needs to be applied from 7th month of pregnancy and it would help in relieving body pains and other normal discomforts during pregnany.

If any one had used it, Please share your thoughts in this regard. Also let us know if there are any more points to be known:hide: with regard to Ayurvedic products which should be used in this period.

    Thanks a lot,
    Uma

    Uma,

I used Dhanvantari tailam from 3rd month itself for getting relief from any pregnancy related pain. I also did daily massage from it, especially back massage.
    It worked great.
I m using it for post partum massage also.
Thankfully, I didnt get any backache till date.

I also used the stronger version of tailum called as Dhanvantari kuzhumbu.

    Uma,

I also took Shatavarigulam from 4th month. It was for well being of my uterus.
Also took Sukumar ghritam, that helped in development of baby.

Plz use them only after consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner.

    Dear Friends,

Yeah its good to use while pregnant and after delivery. I had used in both my deliveries. A massage with it for your back and pelvic area is effective to ease labour when pregnant and massage for the whole body after delivery is effective to relieve all pains esp back.

Its quite common to see keralaites use this thailam / kuzhambu during and after pregnancy. Btw both my deliveries were fast and normal!

    Uma Shakthi,

You dont need a doctor's prescription to use Dhanvantri tailam/kuzhumbu.
It is used very commonly in pregnancy.
If you are using Kuzhumbu, dont apply it on hair as it may lead to hairfall (as told by my doc), but tailam can be used on all body parts.
Also, tailam is more for relaxation and kuzhumbu is more for pain relief. You can get it in any Arya Vaidya Sala Kottakal store.
