Is it safe to eat maggi noodles during pregnancy ? I have a real craving for Maggi and though I try to avoid it , wondering if it is ok to eat once in a while....Please advice.. Also I am eating lots of fruits, veges etc and having a balanced diet otherwise but this Maggi craving is driving me crazy..

    Hi there!
It would be ok just as long as you watch the sodium content in pre-packaged stuff. Once in a while would be ok..

I am not sure how safe it is to use the flavour that you get with it.

You may try putting your own masala (which I normally do here)
I add coriander powder, chillipowder and salt with veggies.

More or less I get similar taste as maggi flavour powder.

    Congrats Pinksandblues :thumbsup

The taste maker might contain msg - taste enhancer which might upset your stomach. Also been hearing a lot about wax in these noodles(google also brings up lot of links), so it would be best to wash it thoroughly before cooking. They might just be rumors but better safe than sorry!

Wish you a very healthy pregnancy :thumbsup

I think once in a while is ok (not everyday)

I had a craving for instant noodles in the middle of my pregnancy & I ate it everyday (I know I over did it) for one week!! & then the craving went away & I still havnt eaten it again.. nothing happened.. but if you already suffering from gas / heartburn dont have everyday as the spices will give you more heartburn

I had Maggi many days while I was pregnant. My son turned out fine !

But yes, I used to throw away the water after boiling the noodles so that the sodium is almost drained out.. not fully though. I used to have the tastemaker sometimes and otherwise used to do some seasoning of my own.

Eating msg once in a while is alright. I used to eat chinese food too. Eating msg everyday may occassionally raise your blood pressure. Else, it wont cause any harm. I used to have soups and chinese dishes prepared at home, I used to add MSG in all of them... ofcourse just a pinch or two.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I had no idea about the wax / sodium in the noodles so I will be careful to drain the water next time and will also try the homemade seasoning ..

Anything in moderation is fine. Don't overdo any food.
