Trip to India in peak summer with my expected 5 month old son!

Hi Friends..

Im expecting my son in first week of Jan...2010.... We may have to visit India in end of May when it is peak summer in Chennai..i hear from my parents that now even in Oct its scorching in chennai n rains at times..n making it even worse...the climate is so erratic...since i live here in USA..my son will be typical winter baby..wondering how far it wud be ok for us to make a trip to India..considering chennais climate...bcoz its so unpredictable.. is thr anyone out thr who visited india in summer with their winter baby???

Im really worried..any precautions to be taken??

Beleive me, it is terrible. I just cam back from chennai(last week). It was very very hot, and LO was on a food strike. Plus mosquito's made it worse. I had Johnsons anti mosquito's with me, but it had no effect. Odomos liquid was effective. I was in Chennai for 3 weeks, rest of the stay was in Kerala, so it wasok.
What I would suggest is (1) reduce the use of Pampers, use cloth diapers. 2) Light cotton clothes 3) Good mosquito repellents 4) Avoid taking baby outside as much as possible. (I used to take Chinnu after 7 Pm) 5) First few days buy good brand mineral water, slowly you can shift to boiled filtered water.
Weather part apart, Chennai is fun to be in. Dont miss the opportunity of meeting the relatives, just because of the weather reasons.
