In the beginning, when I was so small, There was no competition at all. You took me so often, like that call That rings frequently in a hospital. As I grew, I changed a bit. Though you won, I made it Hard but you waited a bit Till I fell in your hands so fit! Then came a time that made me to Realize how much I needed you. Waiting for you isn't easy too! You then played hard to get. Didn't you? Seeing my dear ones in your wrap, I feel that odd solace these days. Next time I fall in your soft lap, Let there not be another day! There are a few who cannot be won! You are one of those and next to none. Without you, none of us can survive Longer as our health takes a dive! p.s. Its about sleep from the old one's point of view.
Beautifully written, rgs. true, both the temporary sleep and our eternal sleep, we have no control over and hence they become INVINCIBLE. every day temporary sleep is a bonus awarded by the eternal one(aiyo pavamnu) this poem reminds me of the song "'indha pachchaikilikkoru" from movie "needhikku thalaivangu" (quite a very old movie).
Just a small correction [typo?] KV madam. The film is "Needhikku thalaivaNangu" and I liked the S.Varalakshmi rendition better, as her voice is unique and superb. But "Needhikku thalai vaanguvadhu kooda sari dhaan. The view of yours that everyday sleep is a gift from Pingala Devi [goddess of death], is so good. Thanks a lot for your feedback. -rgs
