Default A drop of Eternity

Yet another eventful day passes. Yet another sleepless night.
A miniscule drop in the boundless ocean of Time.
A drop that has all the characteristics of the mighty body of which it is a tiny part.
A drop that, in essence, is boundless too.
Is this what that is referred as Time standing still?
A drop, if lived like we did yesterday, is Eternity in itself.
It is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End.
The First and the Last, that which Was, and Is and Is To Come.
Can Time freeze? It can as it did yesterday.
The Wheel has mercifully stopped moving, making my cup of Joy full to the brim.
The Sun and the Moon will continue to go about their task
So will the Seasons, the Summer and Spring, Autumn and Winter.
But their passage will have no effect on My Time
Now that you are with me.

Sri

Dear Cheeniyasir,

What a soulful poet you are! I read the first poem in your blog as well, and it was inspiring too.

Writing requires talent, more so when it is poetry. One sees rhymes all over, but very few real poems. When I see poems by you, AC, Malathijagan,Shanvy (just to name a few randomly), my mind always calms down, even if the poem is not a happy one.

This one has all the youthful exuberance of a young man in love. But the exuberance comes out not in a gush, but in gentle reverence. The references to one completing the other to perfection, of one freezing time and seasons for the other- more an Ode than a mere poem.

Your best is in verse, Cheeniyasir!

affly,
Vidya

Dear Cheeniya sir,
I read the poem submitted in the blog too. Both the poems are right out of your heart. In fact I was typing a f.b for the poem at the blog site two days when the power went off and I totally forgot about it later. Today when I saw this poem I felt, not only are you a great writer but also a wonderful poet. Please keep writing more poems. I had requested you to post something about Shakespeare in one of your threads! It seems you have decided to become one! What melancholy!
Regards,
Malathi

Dear Vidya
I never knew that writing poetry could be such an emotional experience. The feelings when writing a poem are so different from saying something in prose. It is as though the mind lets the heart take over completely for a while.
I am so happy that someone like you has such nice things to say about my poetry. You have always been a catalyst in my writing activity!

Dear Malathi
Thank you for your nice words of appreciation.
My English Professor used to tell us that if anyone wished to write on the plays of Shakespeare, he must himself become a Shakespeare to know what was in his mind when he wrote a particular passage.
Your request is getting stronger in my mind and you will have the same in due course. But I only hope that you wont regret making a request to write about the Bard!
Sri

Dear Shanthi
I really do not know if what I pass on as poetry will really qualify to be called so according to the book of rules! But I can say this much that the words that I write come straight from my heart. If the writer can make the reader to experience the same feelings that he had when writing a poem, I think the purpose is served.
Thank you for your encouragement
Sri

hi sir
it is a beautiful poem. i love the way you have epitomised time as " a drop of eternity". it is true that a day only represents a drop(could be even less) of eternity because no one knows when time started nor when it will end (though rough speculations have been made)...

the line "Can Time freeze? It can as it did yesterday." reminds me a lot of photography because i like to think of taking photographs as capturing a slice within Time itself. and in a picture doesnt time appear to freeze? all motion is caught within a flash of a second. when we look back at them, it brings back all the vivid (maybe not so vivid) memories of what had been taking place in the picture. once again, beautiful poem sir.

cheers
maya
