The pi meets its nemesis tau

    [FONT=&quot]I was never Mathematically inclined.... I mean I could add, subtract, multiply ( I had twins...) and divide... I could manage some algebra, some trignometry and some geometry enough to scrape through my predegree courses. I loved language and words a lot... I was intrigued by biology and nursed secrets of becoming a doctor...but Math has always been my Achilles' Heel. [/FONT]
    [FONT=&quot]But the recent news about Tau replacing Pi and seeing Madeleine Kane's limerick on it made me want to try my hand at it...here are my efforts...[/FONT]

    [/FONT]
    1) They say the sand has run out for the Pi,
    3.14 will wither up and die,
    A full circle it has come,
    Now, of a value double its sum,
    The Tau has started flying sky high!

    2) The Pi who thought he was a constant,
    Went around circles unhesitant,
    But 3.14,
    Is VIP no more,
    The winner now is Tau, the celebrant!

    3) The Pi used to torture me when I was young,
    Its real value never did roll off my tongue,
    Now I am happy
    The newcomer chappie
    Tau’ll never get me anymore high strung!


    4) ‘Well, Dear sir’ said, Tau to Pi,
    ‘I’m here to make you eat humble pie,
    Three point one four,
    Am showing you the door,
    It’s high time you bid circles good bye!’

    Tau will soon replace the pi
    Can someone please tell me why?
    What changed such a basic assumption
    Pi was the mathematical tradition
    Please explain it to me, do try.

    Hi Kamla... Loooooooong time since we got together..eh? I had had a massive attack of 'writer'sblockitis' and was feeling forlorn. Then these challenges happened and woke up from the dead.... Feels great to be alive again!
    So many changes in IL...and so many talented new bloggers....IL is the happening place...in Blogosphere...eh?
