Double Bond

Two atoms
One you…
And one, me...

We share
One pair
Of electrons…

Science says
A double bond is
Not as stable
As a single bond…

But then, why are
You and I
And our twins
So well bonded…

Our reactivity is
Stronger than
That of a
Single bond…?

We don’t know
Which of them
Is the Sigma and
Which the Pi…

We just know
That they both
Mean a lot
To us…

They say
Quantum mechanics
Can explain the mystery
Of such bonding…

But I say
My heart knows well,
The mystery
Of our chemistry!

This poem is excellent but I wonder why there has been no response at all. May be science (especially quantum mechanics) has put them off!
