Hi Priya

Probably you have left him uncontrolled .. as you say he is already one year old. But dont lose heart .. there is always a way out .

First thing is... let him know WHO THE MASTER IS. He has to obey you and you should let him know that . My experience with dogs has shown me that they do respond well to a rolled up newspaper. During the initial stages let him not know that it is the rolled up paper in your hand .. just slam the paper down hard enof to make a noise and I am sure he will respond to it .

Also probably he is doing all this just to gain your attention .. do you leave him for long periods alone at home ? as soon as you return from outside, no matter how tired you are, take a couple of minutes to spend with him and see

Please do send us photos and let us know if there has been any difference.

There are others who will be able to give you more valuable tip. We are all here to share our experiences and help each other !! Take all the tips and enjoy yourself with Jacky.

all the best

cheers

Bhooma

Hey dear thats not a big problem. You see they have nothing else to do like us and they enjoy playing with us. If you feel irritated, give him some other activity like his chewing bone, show him some birds and let him watch, sometimes they also enjoy watching cartoons, some toy to play and see he will enjoy his time and won't bother you.
For us we enjoy all our time with our Shona and never get tired of her. She is such a sweetheart to be with. She keeps going behind someone or the other from family.

Dear Priya,

My dogs use to be like that. Atleast yours is running in and out. I stay in a flat and my dogs use to bring the house down with their playing. But now my Ronnie is 6 and kelly 4, (both poms) they have sobered down. But once in a while they do get into the play mood. I take them to the terrace once in a while and throw the ball and aks them to run.

But I think it is just a phase and once they start growing older they just stop playing.

Regards,
Uma

Is it a full blooded German Shepard? German Shepards are a high engergy breed and needs tons of exercise. Try giving him long walks and playing fetch with him. Also, if you live in USA go to your local pet store and get a dog toy called, "kong" and fill it with a "ziggy". It keeps the dog occupied for hours. I have three dogs, and my youngest dog who is 4 months and has crazy engergy loves these! You can also fill the "kong" with peanut butter. :) Good luck with your German Shepard :)
