To convert .mov into .avi or mpeg to write into a DVD

Hi techies,

Is there any free software that i can download to convert the .mov file shot in a digicam to be convereted into a dvd? If i dont have a .mov player in my system the file doesnt play, that is why i want to have them converted. If any of you have tried it, please let me know.

Hi poornima,
.mov is one of the format, u try this to play with windows Media Player or else with VLC player..
First take backup of your file into system and then burn it into dvd with de help of Nero or cyberlink power dvd...!!

Firstly u should have dvd writer fixed to ur computer... (this can read and write dvd's )

If you are burning home videos, use windows movie maker for editing and adding beauty....

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I am using VLC player for playing it on my computer.

Sharadha, I havent tried windows movie maker. I use nero to copy dvd. I shall use it and let you know how i faired!
