Hi all,
How to use a cell phone purchased from U.S? [sony erricson] .It has to be activated it seems. Anybody knows the technique ?pls. help

Hi,

You need to purchase an Indian sim card with a new number. Check with the Indian service providers to ensure that the cell phone is compatible (which I am sure it is). Usually the new sim card has activation details therein.

Most cellphones purchased from US will be Locked with a unique code by the manufacturer/dealer.So that we cannot use it without choosing only them as our carrier(service provider).But in India u can take it to the nearby cellphone dealer and ask them to unlock it for u.They might have a spl. software to unlock the code so that u can use it universally.The price may range from Rs.400- Rs.1000 based on the model of the cellphone .Once it is unlocked u can buy a new simcard and use this cellphone to make calls.
