Which is the Best Laptop to buy?

Dear Ilites,
Can you all suggest me a good laptop to buy(available in INDIA)? Personally i felt Dell and HP are good.If you have had issues or anything about the configuration, please share with me in this thread.

Also let me know the best configuration available and the price too.

I suggest a HP rather than a DELL and regarding the Config specs and price,U can browse HP Site online.

Sony vaio is good. But it is little bit costlier than the other laptops.

I use a Dell and hence suggested an HP,coz my Brother uses HP and also bought a new HP Laptop from Australia.He says its good.Anyways as other msgs say,Sony Vaio is good but very expensive and U get equally good ones for a lesser price.

I prefer HP to DELL.
There is a model available for 54K which comes with all advanced features.

I prefer HP on the upper hand. But if money is not the criteria, then you can go in for SONY-VAIO. Its simple the best.

What ever Laptop you go, go for a higher model, because upgrading a laptop is too costlier than a PC.

I would suggest
Pentium IV Duo Core with 2+ GHz of Processor speed
Minimum 1GB RAM
DVD Writer (Dont go for a Combo)
Integrated Web Cam (Optional, but HP comes with it)
15''+ Screen monitor
Minimum 160GB Hard Disk Space
would be sufficient

If they give GeForce Video Card, it would be great, but then it is costly
Most Laptops comes with Wireless LAN.. Check it out
Also bluetooth, IR, Card Readers are now at a fashion.

I would suggest you go for HP; dont go for Compaq even though HP has taken over it.

If you would like to know more, do post me.

Note: I would suggest you to get one, if any of your known person is coming from USA. It is quite cheaper when compared to here. If they are bringing from there, do ask them to bring the power converter also....
