Looking for good ortho surgeon

Dear Ilites,

My mother-inlaw (58 years)has some problem in her knee, after all tests and scans, seems surgery has to be performed. So Please suggest some reliable and also cost effective ortho surgeons in chennai. She underwent tests and check ups in kalyani hospital, they've given an estimate of 1.5lakh for knee bone surgery. Pls let me know whether this is normal charge or over charge.

Most of the ladies above 50 years have this problem. Pls share how you overcome this problem. Is there any medical insurance which covers these kind of ailments?

There is one Dr. Sriram who consults in Child Trust hospital.He is very expereinced and flawless when it comes to his job. Another one is Dr. M.Subramaniam who visits Isabel, Dr. Sriram does too.Dr. Sriram's private parctice is off Radhakrishnan Salai in mylpore & Dr. Subramaniam consults form his house on Devanathan street in Mandavelli.

If you want more details do let me know.You can take a second opinion and then go for surgery if need be, Don't worry!!!

My dad is a ortho dealer. I asked him about this, he says Dr. Sriram is the best. Also, there is Dr. Sukumar . If you want any detials, like where he consults/when he consults and all - I will let you know sure!!

Sorry to hear about your mil's problem. Is she overweight. if so reducing the weight will help. i know few of our distant relatives going into alternative treatments when they were asked to go for surgeries..

May be you can take second opinions and also alternative treatment opinions before going for surgery..the process to coming back to normal depends on the type of surgery you prefer
today there are surgeries which are easy on you but hard on the pocket.

You can take a comprehensive health plan. i am told there is a lic health plan right now. since she is 58 and if she does not have any other problems like diabetes or bp then you can buy medical insurance. Talk to your agent.

This is my opinion. otherwise Dr.Sriram is the best.

Yes Suja It is the same hospital and Dr. Sriram consults there also.

I am fine. So how is summer in uae??. Janani has given the details of dr.sriram. I was talking about siddha/ayurverdic treatments along with massages. with a little discipline and no side effects....
