Dear Ilites, My mother-inlaw (58 years)has some problem in her knee, after all tests and scans, seems surgery has to be performed. So Please suggest some reliable and also cost effective ortho surgeons in chennai. She underwent tests and check ups in kalyani hospital, they've given an estimate of 1.5lakh for knee bone surgery. Pls let me know whether this is normal charge or over charge. Most of the ladies above 50 years have this problem. Pls share how you overcome this problem. Is there any medical insurance which covers these kind of ailments?

Hi suja, Sorry to hear about your mil's problem. Is she overweight. if so reducing the weight will help. i know few of our distant relatives going into alternative treatments when they were asked to go for surgeries.. May be you can take second opinions and also alternative treatment opinions before going for surgery..the process to coming back to normal depends on the type of surgery you prefer today there are surgeries which are easy on you but hard on the pocket. You can take a comprehensive health plan. i am told there is a lic health plan right now. since she is 58 and if she does not have any other problems like diabetes or bp then you can buy medical insurance. Talk to your agent. This is my opinion. otherwise Dr.Sriram is the best.
