QA and testing course along with internship

    Hi

    I am on H4 visa and I was a lawyer in India. I am disparate for a job here. I came across a computer institute which gives three months QA and testing course along with internship and placement assitance.

    Has any on tried it? Can a person with different background do a testing or QA job? Do they require a person to be a computer science graduate?    :)

    I believe you can try it and anyone can go for testing or QA job....

    They take money for the course and get you certified but sponsoring for H1 might not be a quick process. Im not sure though.

    portnov in bay area does that.. i went with them and was placed. I'm not an engineering grad. But with portnov you need to have gc/citizenship/L2/some working authorization

    Please do share ur experience with Portnov...Is it worth to do to get a job after a long time break in career?

    It depends on your needs whether it is worth it or not...

    The process for H4 to work will go like this...

    In april the h1 quotas open where in you can apply for h1.. But to apply for h1 you will be needing a client letter from the company where you are working... With out the H1 you can work here.. and even if you get an offer in any company they will not be able to wait for your h1 results since h1 approval or disapproval will come to know only in Sep or oct...

    The only way H4 can work is join any college in F1 visa... In few months you will be getting a CPT/OPT (This is the status wherein you can work).. After you get your CPT/OPT status you can start seaching for a job and while working in a company you can apply for H1 visa and get transferred...

    If you don't have GC/citizenship/L2.. going with portnov is not worth.

    Visa is not my issue. I asked, Is it worth to join Portnov to get a job after a long time break in career??
