Hi Prabha,

I too am a full time working mom with 3 1/2 year old daughter. I too get very less time during the weekdays. But i spend some time talking to her about her friends at her playschool or ask her to show me something she has learnt there... Or make her sit in the kitchen while i am cooking and tell her a story or make her recite a rhyme.. sometimes, i give her crayons, so that she can color.. Some times we both sit in front of PC and play online Tom and Jerry Games.. i have to play and she tells me what to do

As your son is only 1yr 8 mths, you can sing a rhyme to him or tell him a story.. When you are asking him about how his day went, tell him how your day was.. So it will help him relate..

Hi, I am a working mom with a 3 year old sone in preschool/daycare. I drop him off at about 8:30 AM and pick him up around 6-6:15 PM. Once we get home (10 mins from daycare), I cook dinner with him. I set him up on the kitchen countertop when I cook so that he is also involved in my cooking (He will "cut" vegetables with a plastic knife, "cook" with a pot and pan, etc). In between, I take him to the potty since I am trying to potty train him. He may also watch a TV show or some train videos in you tube. (he loves trains!) Dinner is around 9, and we are in bed around 10:30
PM.

I would say maximize the time you have - For instance while you are walking you can play silly games like count cars or bikes or buses, stop to look at leaves, flowers etc. It can be spontaneous and simple. You can slo sing songs and rhymes while you walk. Make up a special song for your walking time so that he'll know it...

Hi,

I work between 12:00 Noon and 09:00 PM. I have a kid who is 2 years & 10 months old. He goes to Eurokids International Pre-school.

A typical weekday of mine will be... I wake up at 06:30AM, finish off some of the morning tasks. I then wake my son up at 7:00 AM. Making him brush & drink Junior Horlicks, then prepare breakfast. Then, give him a bath and dress him up to his Pre-school. By that time, the clock will strike 8:00 and it's time for "My friends-Tigger & Pooh" in Toon Disney. I feed him breakfast as I narrate the story of "My friends-Tigger & Pooh in Toon Disney". 8:30, I go and drop him at school. Then, I return home & have breakfast, relax a while & take bath. Then I prepare lunch. Keep aside lunch for my in-laws, pack lunch for me & my hubby (He works in the same company as mine but goes early in the morn & returns by 3:30 PM) & Keep the food ready for my kid. I go get dressed up for work, it will be 11:10 then. I go and pick my son from pre-school, feed him lunch and relax for a while watching TV, telling stories to my son and my office pick-up will be right there.

I leave my kid to my in-laws and head to work. My hubby will return by 3:30 PM and he will have his time with our kid. My m-i-l or my hubby will feed him dinner.

I return home by 9:00/ 9:30 PM. My son welcomes me with a charming smile and thoughtful hug. I give him a hug and spend some time with him asking him what did he do since I left. He will narrate stories. Then I get freshed up, have my dinner, do rest of the cleaning work and retire at 10.15.

Weekends... I spend more time with him playing, story telling, taking him out...

In short, I enjoy parenting my son... And I'm always thankful to God at heart for having blessed me with a wonderful son.

Cheers,
Shobhitha.
