Hand painting-tanjore glass-instructions

hello mam
thanks for the excellent tutorial. some queries:
how to paint using oil pastels(i once learnt a little of reverse glass from ateacher who tought me to use sponge and oil pastels for painting the skin(body) of the gods
otherwise i do not know how to use oil colours can u please help me on this.
secondly where in singapore can we get the spray u had mentionede in the tutorial
your point gold powder +varinish is very useful . thanks as i was told to do my first few paintings in reverse glass using the gold powder+varnish which i was not very comfortable. i then switched to camilin gold acrylic colour. last week when i had been to chennai i bought a tanjore reverse glass gold colour sold in pandyanbangle store. is it ok to use this?
all this while i have been using printed reverse glass , i am going to try ur method lets hope the god whom i am going to try doing help me

Thnx for the reponse. I am posting the smaller version of the ashtalakshmi. The bigger project is based on this but enlarged and done separately in huge sheets.
As you rightly said, some of the tutors dont impart indepth knowledge, but I was fortunate enough to have a wonderful teacher who not only taught me nuances of art but also never failed to inspire by always reminding me that learning is never ending especially when it comes to arts.

I have some doubts. could u pls clear them.

1. what type of colors (acrylic,poster, water, oil,glass)to choose for glass/reverse glass paintings?
2. for light shade, shall we mix the colors with water or have to mix with only colors? I tried by mixing with water (2 or 3 drops), it floated on glass.
2. Any other tips to take care while doing glass painting.
3. How much cost the pebeo spary would be?
4. Also, could u pls share the trace/design of the ashatalakshmi painting :)

sorry for the v late reply!
i have never heard of using 'oil pastels' on areverse glass painting?!!
if u know, pls do let me know!
in sing, you can get acrylic spray at the art friends at takashimaya / bras basah complex.
my experience with gold powder + varnish is that it darkens after a few years so i hv switched to pentel poster gold/ acrylic gold.
pls do try and post yours!

hi gayathri,
let me try to clear your doubts:
1. acrylics are the best for reverse glass/glass as they are easy to use on smooth and shiny surfaces. oils also can be used but take a v v long time to dry!
2.when you want to mix lighter colours mix them with white, ading water will not work out!
3.always make sure the glass doesnt have any soap/oil residue - the paint wl not stick to the glass!
4.i believe you can get other brands of acrylic spray now; when i bought it 3 years back,it cost me 300-400/- butm this can be used for more than 10 paintings!
5.sorry for the trace, you have to ask dipa!
