    Hello,

    I'd like to get pictures (of deities) that can be used as subjects for Tanjore paintings.
    I've tried the net, but most pictures are of very poor resolution and finally cannot be used for reference.
    Is there anyplace which provides copies of common themes?

    Hi blackburn,I have heard that in Metha gems in the parrys corner, they were selling pictures for reference, long time back, but I don't know the situation now.You can very well use the pictures in the net.

    First you take a color printout and one b&white in the size you want to paint.Color can be any size, since it is only for color reference.Just trace the outline from the b&w picture, leaving the details in the jewels.Your design is ready to be transfered to the board.

    Vidhu28, an IL and a very enthusiastic student of mine is practicing sketching with the help of b&w printouts taken from the net.She has done marvelous works of Lakshmi, Darbar Krishna, and pillayar.If you go to some good xerox printers attached to browsing centres, you get a good picture.Why don't you try this?

    Dear Kaluputti,

    Thankyou again. I've been working with modified line drawings
    since i started doing the paintings myself and would like to
    move on to more traditional themes.

    Will try all the suggestions :)

    It is easy to find Tanjore painting on net by going to Google search & just typing 'tanjore painting'.
