Hi Padma & Shanta. I think I can help you. Follow the steps carefully & clear any doubts you have. Things you need to buy- canvas or bhutanboard one set of oil colours. brushes no.0,1,2,3&4 Gold leaf booklet-1. Stones as required ceramic powder fevicol-1lt You have to collect Pictures of original Tanjorepaintings. Choose a simple & small picture for your first painting. Take a trace using a good quality tracing paper so that you can reuse it. Trace every detail.Transfer this on to the board. mix 1tbs of ceramic powder with 2tbs of fevicol. Keep mixing till it is smooth. You can use a cone or brush no.2 to apply this mixture. I prefer a brush because we'll have more control. keeping the original picture as reference Start applying on parts that are to be covered with gold. Do only small portions at a time.Add fevicol or ceramicpowder if you are not comfortable with the consistency. Make holes with the tip of a ballpen for the stones when it is still wet. can I continue tomorrow? Bye lathanarasimhan. |

thanks, lathanarasimhan! please continue, i will try to get all the items together and start soon. i'm in u.s., so i can get hold of all except some of the items here, will have to find replacements for gold leaf and stones(anyone living in u.s. already done this? any tips? what is the equivalent of fevicol in u.s.?). what size and shape/s are the stones, typically? can i use these rhinestones instead: Flat Back Rhinestones | Dreamtime Creations? can i use gold paint instead of gold leaf? |

Hi shantha, Sorry for the delay. I saw your post only today. It would be a nice idea to use replacements if a particular item is not available. A new type of art work will be created. You will also gain experience and you can pick up original material when you visit India. Replacement for fevicol could be any adhisive used by carpenters. I will continue the method tomorrow. Meanwhile you can start off and do keep posting about the progress of your painting. bye & goodnight. regards latha. |
