Compiling of Raagas or Raagams

Why don't we compile different raagas in this thread?
Rules are:
1. Participant need not be an exponent in music ( which includes me), exponents are welcome.
2. Raagams can be either in Carnatic or Hindustani
3. If possible, song related to that raagam. (optional)
4. The songs can either be classical, movie, bhajans or any song with that ragam.
5.Any other information regarding that raagam.

Here we start with:

I forgot to mention that you have started a wonderful thread. It is really interesting. Though i was/am not very good in music theory, i can really contribute some raagams and songs related. Thank you for bringing back my memories.

hi sriniketan,

interesting post. when we mention a ragam with a carnatic song related to it, why don't we mention a cine song related to the same raga? it will be a good lesson for us to identify the ragas.

eg. Ragam - Hamsanandhi
Carnatic Song - Pavana Guru Pavana Gura, Srinivasa Thiru Venkatamudayan..

Cinema Song - Kalaiyum Neeye Maalaiyume Neeye (Then Nilavu), Rathiriyil Poothirukkum Thamaraidhan (Thanga Magan)
