In Tamilnadu,it is the fully black crow or Andangkaakha as they call it,which replaces the myna in your description.

2 for joy
3 for letter
4 for boy
5 for silver
6 for gold
7 is for the secret not to be told

Yeah, Sunitha.....that's the same in Karnataka too.

It is also believed that if a crow perches itself & caws inside the house like on a balcony or sit out for example, then a guest is about to arrive.

Nice way to inform about an arrival, isn't it?? Don't know if it really works though.

iam having this doubt for the past 4 yrs,can i apply gingely oil or any oil in my hubby's head becoz i heard somewhere that if i apply oil in his head,then his life will get reduced,is it true????:confused::confused:

Dear Vivbass,

I think this is all rubbish.

I apply oil on my husbands head whenever he needs an oil bath. Also on Diwali day, it is the lady of the house who applies oil to everyone's head.

Only thing is ladies should take oil bath on tuesday and friday and gents on saturdays -- never on a sunday.

Maybe chitvish can confirm on this on her arrival.

I have also heard that we must give pickles alongwith some sweet to avoid any misunderstandings or fights!!!
And suppose somebody asks u for curd for setting during late evening hours we are not supposed to give. its like sending Goddess Lakshmi out of ur house.But there is a loop hole also u can take the milk ka vessel from them and put teh curd and return it or keep in ur house .

dear vivbass,
y dont u throw the damn superstition out of ur mind and take care of ur husband when and where required, people who have no work come up with these superstition, c first u get ur husband with more free time to enjoy this and not look out the window who says what, love and its expressions all over the world is very encouraging they dont wait for others, love just flows out...pour it on the man u love most, dont bother abt others....regards sunkan
