| | Explore Arunachal Pradesh! Have you visited Arunachal Pradesh the North east Frontier State of India?
Bordering China , Arunachal is a land of lush green forests, deep river valleys and beautiful plateaus. The land is mostly mountainous with the Himalayan range along the northern borders criss-crossed with ranges running north-south. These divide the state into five river valleys: the Kameng, the Subansiri, the Siang, the Lohit and the Tirap. All these are fed by snow from the Himalayas and countless rivers and rivulets.
Due to close proximity with Upper Assam, Arunachal has been one of the most sought after destinations for excursions, picnics and quick-getaways. But it remains quite unexplored to the rest of India and the world.
Come Let's Explore!!! |

| | Re: Explore Arunachal Pradesh! Thanks for this thread gunjana. Its true Arunachal has very beautiful places but, sadly it is as unexplored as Assam and other north-eastern states of India are. One of our favorite destination close to Guwahati / Tejpur is Bomdila. The picturesque landscape of the place the hospitality of the locals there make me go back there again and again. Have you been to Bomdila? What did you like there. |

| | Re: Explore Arunachal Pradesh! Hi Mayuri, you are absolutely right. There are several picturesque places in Arunachal. We as people from Upper Assam, choose to go to Deomaali for weekend getaways. Even school and colleges arrange picnics there for the students. The uniqueness of the place is that you can enjoy climbing hills as well as enjoy the freedom of partying on the river banks.
There is also a proposed Deomali Elephant Reserve lies in the trijunction of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland comprising of 7 (seven) Village Reserved Forests.
I haven't been to Bomdila, eventhough I heard it is a beautiful place. Please tell us about it and how can we go there from Guwahati. |

| | Re: Explore Arunachal Pradesh! Bomdila can be reached from Tejpur, near Guwahati by bus or car. Nabanita, you must definitely visit Bomdila. Bomdila is a beautiful small town situated at a height of about 8000 ft. above the sea level from where one can see the brilliant landscape and snow-clad mountains of the Himalayan Range. The Buddhist monastery of Bomdila is the repository of culture and is among primary attractions of the area. It has a lot of attractions for the tourists with its cool climate, Apple orchards, artistic people, snow-capped Himalayan peaks and Buddhist Gompas. Bomdila also has a tourist lodge, a craft centre displaying local crafts and a shopping centre where the visitors gets first feel of the local version of Himalayan Buddhist life. Is there anyone in the IL forum who has ever visited Arunachal? | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | |
