Hi,

Generally i will bake cat fish.cut the fish into half inch pieces.

Masala Ingredients:

1.Gingergarlic paste- 2 Tbs
2.Jeera powder-1tsp
3.Salt-acc to taste
4Red chilli powder-1Tbs
5.A pinch of turmeric

Mix all the above ingredient.marinate the fish pieces with the masala.
PreHeat the oven to 350 degrees for 5 min.
Add little butter or oil (2 tsp) to the pieces.
Then bake the fish pieces for 15 to 20 min.

Baked fish goes well with rasam or sambhar.Try it and tell me.

Thanks, whitwrose! How long do you marinate the fish? Do you leave it in the fridge or outside? I may try this recipe on Tilapia since that's what I have right now.

Hi Riyasmom,

U R WELCOME.

Marinate it for atleast 2 hrs.
The more you marinate the better it taste.
leave it outside if it is for 2 hrs.
hey,in the end if u want u can add some curry leaves roughly grounded after 15 min of baking.

Hi all, just saw this thread and remembered once Sanjeev kapoor's baked fish recipe in Zee tv long back, so sharing that with you all..

Fish baked in Banana leaves..

First select the fish with out bones and cut into pieces not to small but 3 to 4 inch size.

Now add lemon with salt on fish and marinate for 20 minutes.

Now grind 1/2 cup coconut, 4 green chillies, 1 cup coriander leaves, 2 tbsp of cumin seeds & 8 cloves of garlic into fine paste.

Cut Banana leaves into square like pieces, and put the marinate fish pieces on each leaf.

Spread the grind chutney on fish on both sides and fold the leaf over the fish to make it like parcel.

Now heat water in a steamer and you can steam those parceled pieces in a steamer till 10 min.

No where oil is used in this method..!
