Default What's your contribution?

Yes.

The simple, yet a loaded question. Are you giving back to the society?

We lead a self-centered life, atleast many of the humans round the world - My life, My family, My, My...

I am not saying it's wrong. Ofcourse one should follow their heart and achieve whatever they want in their lives. But in that process, have you thought to give back something to the society? Have you thought to make a social economic change for those unfortunate?

No, not your future vision. In the present?
No, not your retirement plan. In the present?
No, not visiting an orphanage once a year on your birthday or anniversary.

dear nandhu,
nice topic.yes,i thinka lot about helping the needful people as i strongly believe that-PEOPLEWHO HAVE SHOULD HELP THE PEOPLE WHO DONT HAVE,,
now ,for the question, how?i am very particular about one thing-HELPING THE NEEDFUL CHILDREN..
just like how i spend for my son;s school fees, every month we are educating a child, providing food and shelter for another through two different community programs,,though this is not a great thing that we are doing ,but i defenitely feel contented when we eat or send my son to school everyday, carrying the thought in mind that we are providing the same to somebody who needs it more than us,i have more plans of intensifying my help,,god willing,,i am sure he will
cheers
aarthi

Aarthi.. That's very nice thought of you. Sorry nice action already in place.. Kudos !!!

I agree, for us it might be a simple, negligible help.. but if it changes, brightens someone's life. Then that's huge in any scale

God bless

Hey Nandhu,

Lovely topic, and I wish I did more but the life we live kinda makes your self centered because of the time crunch. Makes you think right, and honestly, I don't think I have done much to help people but I used to do feed stray cats and provide shelter. Now I live in an apt. but God forbid I see a lost animal, but if I came across an animal that needs help, I would.

nandhu,

a thought provoking stuff.

for many of us we use the following quote to our advantage.

"Charity begins at Home"

that charity never comes to an end.

we start fulfilling our "Wants to Have" first and that list becomes endless and later we start accumulating the "Nice to Haves".

in the midst we forget the meaning of society. if at all we remember we first question what did the society give us?

i do give something back to the society that's possible not out of compulsion but due to the love & compassion.

apart from the monetary help, i have a very good friends circle. i smile / laugh and make my company smile / laugh.

guide people who need to be, to the best of my knowledge or lead them to the right source.

i play no politics in office or home.

there are so many things in the day to day life that could help better the society we live in.

plans are there for more contribution in the future.

Very nice to hear your way of contributions and very valid statements too.

(1) One should not feel pressured to do something as noble as this. It should be out of love.
(2) Contribution can be in any form, not necessarily monetary help.
(3) Sharing knowledge to less fortunate is worth $$$$$ anytime !!
