Fascinated, sometimes surprised, or even shocked to hear or see the news which is of odd in nature, thought of sharing it here now and whenever I come across such one...you might too!

Here is what I came across today..

Mass. lake with 45-letter name has spelling errors!

Massachusetts..(spelling mistake sure to occur) has a lake with a 45-letter name. Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg (wiki) in Webster has one of world's longest place names. Even the road signs spell it wrongly..(obviously). There was an "o" at letter 20 where a "u" should have been, and an "h" at letter 38 where an "n" should go.
Some locals gave up and simply call it Lake Webster.
There are many stories and legends about the origin of the Indian name. One popular myth -- later debunked -- holds that the name translates roughly to "You fish on your side, I fish on my side, and nobody fish in the middle".

MAN CUTS OFF HIS FINGERS TO PROTEST OVERDUE WAGES:

A Serbian union official who chopped off his finger and ate it in a protest over wages that in some cases have not been paid in years, said Monday he did it to show how desperate he and other workers were.
We, the workers have nothing to eat, we had to seek some sort of alternative food and I gave them an example," Zoran Bulatovic told Reuters. "It hurt like hell."
he decided to act after his deputy, "a single mother of three, was the first to say she would cut off her finger. I could not allow her to do that," he said.
Some employees have not been paid for years, only collecting social benefits, like free medical care.
About two dozen workers went on a 19-day hunger strike last year. They want the company's debt to be swapped for state-held equity and a welfare program for those nearing retirement.
Bulatovic said his comrades will not back down from their demands, but they will postpone planned self-mutilations at least until talks with government officials in Belgrade expected Tuesday.

Pathetic indeed...hope the Govt. intervenes to stop this self-mutilation and give wagers their dues..

Infact , I skip the main section of the newspaper sometimes and scour for odd news which is incredulous.
