Welcome to this site....
If u want to send a PRIVATE MESSAGE, then go to private messages(which is there on the top.(where u can see welcome, ur name, ur last visit time) Then u can easily post a private msg to anyone.
If u want to start a new thread regarding any topic, then go to particular forum(say u want to send some joke, then go to the Forum Forward messages and Jokes) and click on New Thread, which will be there at the starting of the page.
Hope u can find some info from this.

you have talked of responding to posts and joining various threads. this is what becomes very difficult here- when i think of posting a reply, i am overcome by temptation to read more posts. b'cos there are so many,many interestg posts everyday. i end up reading all the time rather than putting down my own words.
