| Hi all! I´m (obviously) new here. Came across this forum when I was searching for some specific information and have been reading here for a while. I´m not Indian but a German who has lived in Pune and Hyderabad (taught German there), speaks fairly good Hindi and a little Marathi and has got lots of Indian friends. And as you can guess from my user name I have a soft spot for Victorian romance novels I joined this forum to get more information on Indian culture, recipes, health-related issues and maybe contribute a different angle to some of your discussions. While browsing this forum and also while living in India I noticed the rather desastrous image "Westerners" seem to have among some of you. Increasing divorce rates in India? That´s because of "Westernisation". Indian girls wearing scanty dresses? Certainly an effect of "Westernisation"? I´m not quite getting what "Westerner" actually means. There are huge cultural difference between an Australian, an American and a European but apparently we´re all considered the same. I found that a little sad. I for example come from an extremely close-knit family which according to what some of you are writing here doesn´t even exist in EuropeAnyway, I´m hoping for interesting discussions with you and hopefully I can help a little to represent "Westerners" as people with values and cultures. I´m also ready to provide help and information for people visiting or living in Germany. Last edited by janeeyre; 22nd May 2008 at 04:39 AM. |

| Hi INDUSies, I would like to call all of us as 'Indusies' . I am neither a big achiever nor a ordinary person. But My wish message to all ladies in the world is that Courage, Hardwork, Intelligence, with which we can achieve a lot in the world, be it a heart or a job, it is possible. I use to believe in the sentence "It is Possible". We ladies should prove that it is we who can create or save anything in this world and not meaning to destroy. Suganthasugi |
