Hi everybody

In fact, I'm not an Indian woman, I'm from Russia (Siberia), now living in Moscow. But my husband is Indian (Bengali). We have 2 kids - son is 6.5 y.o. and daughter, she is only 2 months.
Earlier I worked in a tourist company, now I'm too busy at home with my kids

Hi Anitha - since I do not live in Singapore, I cannot quite answer your questions - so please post your queries in the Indians in Singapore subforum. I will be happy to assist you with any other questions that you may have regarding IL.

Hi All

I am Susmitha, currently residing at Mason, Ohio. I am on H4 here so keep twidling around home all the while. But yes was always passionate about cooking, which is right now showing around our waist lines, and is my current hobby too.
I am a Masters in International Relations and also a m.phil in Polsc. Sighhhhhh, keep hoping I could get to do something here. I ran my very own play school at Delhi for almost 8 yrs and so find this kind of lifestyle a bit scary.
Well now for who i am in the sense of where i belong to in India. Well, I love to call myself a true Indian(ofcourse I dont speak sanskrit ) thats the only thing that leaves me behind haha. But I ama Kannadiga, born and bought up at Hyderabad. Am married to a North Indian( a Haryanvi from Delhi). Also have a lot of relatives who are maharastrians as well as tamilians. So we are quite a cosmopolitin family. I enjoy all cultures thus.
My other primary hobbies are reading, which I am thankful to the wonderful libraries I get here.
What more can I say? Maybe we will all get to know each other as time goes by.

Wish u all a nice day

Hello Victoria
Welcome to IL site, It is really interesting to see how easy it has become now to make friends and interact with them from virtually any part of the world! My name is Pravina and have resided in the UK for the last 36yrs. I have been bred and brought up in Nairobi kenya. Though not born in India, my parents have brought us up with having a deep love for our culture and heritage.I have been very lucky as both my sons and my daughter in law who hs joined the family last year have a profound love for our culture. I still find that i am always learning something new. It is quite awesome how much wealth is there in our scriptures and we have learned gurus or spiritual leaders who try their their best to bring this knowlege to us with much simlicity.
I am also gujarati. Please feel free to contact be on any matter.
warm regards
Pravina

I have a friend who used to cook for me almost every week some kind of Gujarati food. She is an older lady and I would call her "Ba" sometimes. She taught me alot about the Indian culture and some of the expectations of Indian women in Indian society. We have been friends for over 2 years. She recenly went back to India and I don't think that she will return.

THe reason why I have joined this community is to learn more about your culture and how you cook. I never thought that I would love Indian food so much, but I do. I can cook a few things like kichiri, khaman, ardva, chappatis, pollock moong and some others. She taught me all of them.

I was born in California and my native language is American english. I am married and have been for 7 years. I have a 4 year old boy who also likes Indian food. I am of African-American and Italian descent. I am not sure what else I should put on here, but if anybody wants to know more about me or how I came to know my friend Krishna, just leave me a message.

I look forward to a friendship with you all. Hope I am not intruding.

Sincerely,
Victoria
